Mercedes Schlapp has no easy task in her position her position as White House adviser for strategic communication. The media spotlight was on her in the wake of being announced as an option to succeed Hope Hicks, the communications director. There was a great deal of press attention after she was identified as the candidate for replacing Hope Hicks, the communications director. It hasn't been a pleasant fight. Schlapp has sided with Tony Sayegh who was also an aspirant. They started fighting in media. Schlapp stated that, after the Washington Examiner had published an article with negative comments about Sayegh's character, she called Sayegh to have a private discussion.
